The GSS Annual Awards recognise excellence in research, innovation and emerging scholarship across academia, industry and public service. Self-nominations are welcome, and nominees must demonstrate clear alignment with the upcoming conference theme.
Three awards invite nominations; the GSS Best Paper Award requires no separate application.
For an individual whose work demonstrates exceptional innovation, international recognition and leadership within their field.
Eligibility: Researchers in academia or industry.
Prize: Plenary lecture, commemorative award and complimentary conference registration.
Recognises a professional whose innovative work in an applied or industry-based context has had measurable, real-world impact.
Eligibility: Individuals in industry, NGOs, consultancy or public service.
Prize: Plenary presentation, commemorative award and complimentary registration.
Celebrates an early-career academic or professional whose research already shows excellence, originality and clear leadership potential, and whose work speaks to the iCAD 2027 theme of upskilling, efficiency and accountability for inclusive development.
Eligibility: Early-career researchers and professionals within ten years of completing a PhD or equivalent qualification, in academia, industry, policy or practice. Self-nominations are welcome.
Prize: Plenary presentation at iCAD 2027, a commemorative award, complimentary conference registration and a featured profile across GSS platforms.
Awarded to the most outstanding academic paper presented at the GSS Annual Conference.
Eligibility: All accepted papers across all thematic tracks. No separate application is required.
Selection: Track Chairs shortlist candidates, followed by final selection by an independent panel of senior academics.
Prize: Certificate of recognition, opportunity to publish in a GSS-affiliated outlet and featured mention on GSS platforms.
These requirements apply to Awards 1–3. The Best Paper Award (Award 4) has no separate nomination or application; accepted papers are automatically considered.
